Case description
Chester Grusinski's account concerns a 1958 cruise of the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt near Cuba. In later interviews he said men were hurrying topside to look at something unusual, and he followed them. What first appeared as a bright light reportedly approached the ship closely enough for him to discern an elongated shape and figures inside. His estimate of its length was approximately 75–100 feet.
Grusinski described a change from white light to red-orange and said he felt heat on his face. He recalled featureless silhouettes that gave him the impression of being nonhuman. The underside then became intensely red and the object departed almost instantly. The source does not provide reliable facial anatomy, clothing or a precise count of occupants; the plate retains them as silhouettes rather than inventing a recognizable alien species.
The account was publicized decades later, including 1990 s newspaper coverage and television. Grusinski also alleged transfers of talkative crew members and a concealed investigation, but these claims should not be mistaken for independently established cover-up evidence. The source compilation distinguishes other carrier sightings from 1952 and 1956, which are not this event. Even the date is imprecise: the file uses 1958, with September/October suggested in an interview. The ship's later movements do not establish an exact encounter day.
