NOf Halsingberg Sweden radar-visual unidentified-object report — May 12, 1958

On or during May 12, 1958, at or near NOf Halsingberg Sweden, Sweden, the source reports the following sequence: BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING "Two objects stopped over a small town, one broke off and maneuvered for about 5 minutes, then joined the other and both disappeared." 11. PERTINENT EVIDENCE DID NOT SUBSTANTIATE REPORTED STORY AND THAT IT WOULD SUBMIT INTELLIGENCE REPORT. 2. (deleted) The Air representative was shown secret Swedish Air Force intelligence which indicated that many of the reported UFO sightings are Soviet attempts to test Swedish radar and other defensive installations. It has been able to establish that the Swedish Air Force Intelligence has been closely watching developments and have determined that one wave of these "UFO" sightings, or a phenomenon observed over the Swedish island of Gotland, would have been a piston and jet driven aircraft flown by Soviets from the Baltic area and over the island. The object was observed on 7 December 1957. The sighting itself was observed shortly before noon, and any additional reports or observations should be given consideration. Sighting phenomena of a canary-green glow as reported may require more intensive investigation of unusual atmospheric conditions in the area at the time of the sighting.
