On or during January 1960, at or near 03 45N165 25W Near Johnston Island, the source reports the following sequence: BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING: Bright white light ascending, 20-30 seconds, white in color, passed to the east, disappeared in clouds. A LIGHT WAS FIRST NOTICED 4 MINUTES TO 2320, GMT: DURATION OF SIGHTING WAS 2 MINUTES 8745/3000, 4030, 57. OBJECT WAS APPARENTLY DECREASING IN ELEVATION AS IT APPROACHED HIGHEST ELEVATION. AS LIGHT PASSED TAIL IT WAS SUFFICIENTLY BRIGHT TO LIGHT UP.
