Case description
This Project Blue Book packet concerns correspondence from Braintree, Massachusetts, in late 1964. The imported archive label spells the town Baintree, while the letters use Braintree. A November 7 letter from a group calling itself the Flying Saucer Investigation Agency challenged Air Force secrecy and claimed that its members had seen a saucer and the beings operating it. They offered to provide a fuller report on request.
The correspondence describes exceptional speed, but gives no useful occupant anatomy, measured distance, encounter setting or detailed sequence. The packet’s summary refers to youths, while administrative fields use a single civilian witness. Those fields should not be treated as a securely established witness count. November 7 is a correspondence or receipt date, not a demonstrated date of the supposed observation.
The Air Force replied on December 16, 1964, denying that it censored private sightings and enclosing AF Form 164 for a proper report. The case summary says the questionnaire was not returned after a 60-day wait and assigns insufficient data. That is an administrative disposition, not identification of an object or proof that the claim was false. The Atlas retains the claim and its documentary context, without inventing a saucer design, creature appearance or encounter scene absent from the surviving packet.
