Case description
William Blackburn reported an encounter while working at the Augusta County Archery Club off Route 250 near Brand's Flats, Virginia, at about 5:40 p.m. on 19 January 1965. According to NICAP's fuller account, he saw two objects in the sky. The smaller descended and landed roughly eighteen yards away, after which three beings, each about three feet tall, emerged.
They wore shiny garments described as matching the object's unusual colour. One had an exceptionally long finger, and Blackburn found their gaze particularly penetrating. As they approached to within about twelve yards, he said he froze with fright while holding a double-edged axe. After making unintelligible sounds, the figures returned through a doorway which appeared to blend into the hull. The object then rose and disappeared.
The directory heading says two humanoids, while its detailed text says three; the plate follows the detailed version and flags that difference. Blackburn later claimed that unidentified government representatives had told him to remain silent, a matter NICAP investigators said they examined. That claim is not independent confirmation of the beings. A separate 26 January report involving local teenagers should not be merged into this event. Faces, exact craft design and garment colour remain insufficiently documented for a specific alien type.
