Long Beach entity encounter — January 20, 1965

At 9:40 a.m. CST on 20 January 1965, an observer near Burke Street in Long Beach, Mississippi reportedly saw a silvery object travel slowly westward and pass overhead. NICAP's detailed directory describes it as transparent, as though made from glass or plastic. The surviving description does not supply an observation duration or a securely reconstructed flight path beyond that movement. Two people appeared to be aboard. One was toward the front; the other seemed to sit facing backward while holding a large camera-like object. This was a visual comparison, not an identification of the apparatus or evidence of photography. No reliable anatomical description, unusual clothing, communication, landing or occupant exit is preserved in NICAP's account. The linked Blue Book documents include correspondence exploring a helicopter explanation. NICAP's Fran Ridge considered the reported absence of sound difficult to reconcile with that possibility, while other catalogues describe the case as an aircraft misidentification. These are competing assessments of a sparse report, not confirmation of an extraterrestrial vehicle. The imported Atlas record also attached text concerning January 1962, Kirksville and a light over the North Carolina coast. Its different date, locations and balloon discussion do not belong to this Mississippi encounter and are excluded from the reconstructed sequence.
