Case description
The Gulkana material does not support the imported 12 December 1968 date or a Canadian ground encounter. The recovered RCAF message concerns Northwest Airlines Flight 802, a DC 4 out of Anchorage, about ten minutes north of Gulkana, Alaska, en route to Northway. It dates the flight 12 December. Project Blue Book catalogues place the corresponding case in December 1950, commonly 11 December, so the day differs between sources; unrelated 1968 Atlantic and Montreal material must not supply its date or setting.
The captain's relayed statement describes two white flashes to starboard while the aircraft was at approximately 11000 feet. They were separated by roughly five seconds. About a minute later a dark cloud appeared in the same general direction, rose and enlarged, then divided into two clouds, one above the other. The aircraft subsequently re-entered overcast. High stratus and occasional light snow were reported, and no definite cloud dimensions could be estimated.
Asked whether any other occupant of the aircraft had seen the phenomenon, the captain said not to his knowledge. Here occupant means someone aboard the airliner, not an alien inside an unknown craft. The captain offered no explanation. Neither flashes nor cloud revealed an airframe or beings. The plate labels its combination of successive phases and retains the date discrepancy without inventing a spacecraft or a nuclear explosion.
