Case description
NICAP lists a daylight landing with occupants at Whiteman Air Force Base in May 1966, without an exact day. Ted Phillips supplied a fuller retrospective account in the October 2005 MUFON UFO Journal. He said security personnel told him several children had seen a disc-shaped object land in a wooded area of the base. A small being allegedly emerged, and the children ran to tell their parents.
Security teams were reportedly sent to the area. Phillips wrote that they found a burned patch and four impressions, with branches broken downward along the alleged descent path. He said he spoke with nine security personnel, some of whom visited the site, and later located a retired base photographer who said he photographed the area but retained neither negatives nor prints. This is an investigation reported decades afterward; the original photographs and a contemporaneous official incident file were not recovered here.
A separate Whiteman narrative concerns a bomber crew’s observation of a metallic disc and radar tracking near missile installations. Those claims should not be merged with the children’s woodland encounter as though all witnesses saw the same sequence. The landing account provides no reliable facial features, clothing or detailed anatomy for the small being. Four ground impressions do not by themselves establish a four-legged craft. The plate keeps the figure distant and indistinct and illustrates the children’s reported observation, without inventing an armed confrontation.
