Canada reported unidentified aerial event — 1969-02-02 — Ste Rose Du Lac, MB

On February 2, 1969, several people in Sainte-Rose-du-Lac, Manitoba, reported an unusual object near the town. The preserved Canadian government correspondence describes an observation beginning around 5:25 p.m. Central Standard Time and another phase around 5:45. The object was variously characterised as circular, oblong or flattened, initially pinkish and later dark, with a red light. One part of the account places it apparently above or near a blacksmith's shop. It was subsequently reported moving south at high speed. The approximately twenty-minute span refers to the reported sequence, not necessarily a continuous close view of a single fixed object. The descriptions are eyewitness estimates of appearance and motion; the archive does not establish the object's size, distance or physical composition. RCMP correspondence and National Research Council records preserve the report. A later UFO Talker discussion identifies five observers and investigating officer Corporal R. M. Tramley, and notes additional interest from the Canadian Aerial Phenomena Research Organization. That later interpretation should be distinguished from the contemporary file. Although this record appears in an inherited close-encounter queue, the material examined describes an object and lights, without visible humanoids or a remembered onboard episode. No beings, abduction sequence or physical contact have therefore been added to the narrative.
