Whiteman AFB disc-shaped object report — June 15, 1966

This account concerns the Whiteman Air Force Base missile complex in Missouri on June 15, 1966, but the surviving statement was submitted to NUFORC in July 2001. The anonymous writer said he had been working in the base command post around 9 p.m. when a security controller directed him to monitor radio traffic. According to that retrospective statement, a missile site lost power and a dispatched security team reported a saucer-shaped object overhead. When the team advanced, the object allegedly moved away and power returned. The writer described a northward progression over additional sites, with power losses occurring as the object crossed them. He also said weather observers and control-tower personnel visually saw it near the base, and that he forwarded information to Project Blue Book. These are the reporting individual’s recollections of communications and other people’s observations, not his own close visual description of a craft. The submission gives a two-hour duration, but provides no site numbers, contemporary logs or named additional witnesses. NUFORC’s note says attempts to telephone him for clarification had been unsuccessful. No beings or occupants are described in this account, despite its entity-related catalogue tagging. The image therefore provides a clearly labeled contextual missile-site scene without inventing an alien crew.
