Case description

Melvin Peter Wall, a Saskatoon resident, reported an anomaly discovered after processing a reel of 35 mm film. In his signed statement taken at Moose Jaw in June 1970, he said he had exposed the film between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. on 14 September 1969; five pictures then appeared to show an unidentified object. He told his sister, who contacted military police. Corporal J. C. Webb witnessed the statement. The forwarding message places the photography at the Saskatchewan River Dam and explicitly says no object was seen at the time: the anomaly appeared on the developed negatives. That message gives 17 September rather than the statement's 14 September, so the event date remains internally inconsistent. Moose Jaw is the location of the military correspondence and statement, not evidence that a craft was encountered there. Canadian Forces Headquarters forwarded photographs and the statement to the National Research Council. In his 30 June 1970 reply, Peter Millman considered the marks apparently some form of photographic fault, while explaining that the original negatives were needed to determine its nature. The examples were filed as non-meteoritic sightings. This is a photographic-anomaly file with an explicit ordinary explanation proposed, not a witnessed landing or occupant encounter; the illustration depicts a qualified later review rather than a craft in the sky.
