Case description
On 23 December 1970, an RCMP patrol visited Stanley Wood in the Canaan Forks area of Queens County, New Brunswick, at approximately 21:00. The sky was clear. Wood pointed out the bright object that he had reported repeatedly over the preceding weeks. Constable L. B. Wood considered it a bright star or planet, more brilliant than the other stars, rather than a resolved vehicle.
Stanley Wood was observing through a friend’s telescope. The constable used binoculars and saw only a very bright white light. He suggested that previously reported colours arose from reflections in the telescope lens. The light was also visible from Chipman. The shared surname does not establish any family relationship between observer and constable, and no specific star or planet was identified in the report.
Earlier pages describe sightings beginning around 1 December, including claims of a circular form, red and green lights, white illumination below and apparent legs or fire. Those are earlier observer interpretations, not details verified during the 23 December visit. The file records no occupants, landing or recovered material, and no further action was planned unless instructed. The plate selects the police follow-up with telescope, binoculars and a small white celestial-looking point, preserving the conventional assessment without presenting the earlier perceived appendages as established hardware.
