Case description
Three siblings on the Saddle Lake reserve west of St. Paul, Alberta, reported an unusual object on 2 March 1971. The RCMP interview identifies Milton Crier, ten, Alice, sixteen, and Herman, fourteen. Their father contacted police the next morning. A telex places the observation near 22:15 Mountain Standard Time, while the narrative describes it as around 22:00.
Milton said he was playing outside when he heard a soft but unusually loud kitten-like purr. Looking up, he saw a round object with three brilliant red and orange lights, approximately five hundred yards south. He summoned Alice and Herman, who described a saucer-shaped form about the size of two cars. They estimated it remained stationary for two minutes, five to ten feet above treetops, before moving slowly west. The full observation was put at three minutes.
Their mother reportedly saw blue and orange light reflected inside the bedroom after Alice woke her, but did not leave bed; their father had been asleep. Police noted nearby oil installations and the Cold Lake flight route without identifying a cause. The constable considered the children sincere yet remained uncertain what they had seen. No occupants or landing were reported. The plate follows the three outdoor observers and their distant light-bearing form, keeping the reported size and height as estimates.
