Case description
At approximately 14:00 on 6 August 1966, a man and members of his family near Harlingen, Texas, reportedly saw a dark object hovering close to their isolated house. The surviving catalogue summary distinguishes the children’s observation from the family’s general sighting: three children said they could see a very short figure through an opening in the object.
The opening was described as square and illuminated with yellow light. The figure wore shiny black coveralls. The object subsequently moved away slowly, accompanied by a soft humming sound. A fuller chronology calls it an inverted cup and gives the children’s ages as six to nine; facial features, conversation and physical contact are not described. Calling the figure a dwarf reports the witnesses’ size impression, not an established anatomical identification.
Brad Sparks’s Blue Book unknowns catalogue lists the episode with references to Vallée’s Magonia case 786 and the Saunders/FUFOR index. Its presence in that compilation should not be read as official confirmation of an occupant. A later Harlingen incident dated 3 September is cross-referenced separately and is not combined here. Names, detailed statements and independent corroboration for the August figure are not supplied by the brief entry, so additional details should await the underlying reports.
