Canada reported unidentified aerial event — 1975-03-26 — Lethbridge, AB

Ben Goldberg reported a changing light from the north entrance steps of Lethbridge Community College at about 21:30 Mountain Standard Time on 26 March 1975. The RCMP telex describes mostly clear sky with patchy cloud and a view west over a newly constructed bridge with amber streetlights. Goldberg supplied no physical structure: the object was only a light cycling between white, red and amber while varying in brightness. Its apparent size was compared with a star. He left and returned three times during approximately twenty minutes, finding the light in progressively more southeasterly positions. Only one light was observed at a time. He distinguished it from satellites he had previously watched and mentioned an earlier similar experience. The telex did not identify other observers, resolve an altitude or report beings, contact, landing or physical effects. The follow-up is decisive context absent from the imported synopsis. Goldberg called again on 27 March after seeing what he thought was the same light in approximately the same position and concluded it was a planet, suggesting Pluto. That suggested identity was not established by an astronomical observation; the investigator's conclusion was more generally a star or planet. Other unnamed viewers reportedly regarded it that way too. Police and the local weather office had no additional sighting reports or unusual conditions, and no weather balloon had been released. The file supports an initially puzzling light with a later ordinary interpretation, rather than a confirmed close encounter.
