Case description
Jim Divall reported an unusual dark object near the Redwater–Thorhild area of Alberta in the early hours of 5 November 1975. The telex places the sighting at approximately 00:30 Mountain Standard Time; the fuller report records the call through Edmonton detachment at about 01:30. The telex describes a location north of Redwater near Highways 44 and 28, while the written report identifies four miles east of Thorhild on Highway 28.
Divall said he drove his van into a ditch to avoid a collision with a large black, circular form. He estimated it at forty feet across and said it appeared to revolve slowly. On getting out, he reportedly heard a rushing sound and saw it disappear. No lights were observed. The telex estimates about three minutes, but supplies no measured height, speed or physical dimensions.
Police located him waiting at a nearby garage, then searched the reported site without finding the object. Further local enquiries produced no other witnesses. The constable described him as apparently sincere while stating that his reliability was unknown, and no further action was planned. There is no description of occupants, landing traces or recovered material. The plate selects a quiet moment beside the stopped van, retaining an unlit silhouette rather than adding luminous windows, an alien crew or a dramatic collision.
