Case description
At approximately 10:15 p.m. on 4 January 1976, motorists Mel Heins and James Hunt reportedly observed an unusual object from Highway 95, about two and a half miles south of Parson, British Columbia. The weather was dark, overcast and snowy. Heins said he stopped after seeing other vehicles pulled over and people watching something in the sky. Hunt separately reported the occurrence the following day.
The witnesses described a large triangular shape travelling north near a hydro line, approximately one hundred feet above treetop level. A red flashing light marked the leading point, with blue and green flashing lights at the rear corners. One observer described a row of spaced windowlike lights. They heard no object noise, estimated a speed comparable to an aircraft or helicopter and watched it disappear into the snowfall after roughly three or four minutes.
The Golden RCMP checked helicopter companies and the transport authority; no relevant flight was identified in the available records. Other roadside observers did not come forward. Police noted that the two named men were unknown to investigators and seemed uncertain about what they had seen, making a firm conclusion impossible. There is no occupant description. The source names Heins, not the mirror index's erroneous Henderson, and the sighting remains an unresolved aerial report.
