Canada reported unidentified aerial event — 1978-05-05 — North Bay, ON

On the evening of 5 May 1978, Roy Boivin reported an object while approaching his home from work at North Bay's Milford Trailer Park. The clear-sky report also names neighbours Arlene Morley and Mr. and Mrs. James McGovern. They could observe it from outside the home. The object was described as small and triangular in appearance, with three lights: two blue lights above and a flashing red-and-blue light below. The lights reportedly swayed back and forth while remaining in approximately the same position for an hour and a half. A North Bay terminal-control-unit observer, Rick Bradley, also reported seeing the object from the airport area, approximately twenty degrees from the airport in the message's wording. This is a visual observation; the file does not establish a radar track or measured object distance. Several copies of the transmission preserve imperfectly legible time fields, so the evening and reported duration are safer than a falsely exact minute-by-minute chronology. Nearby archive pages describe a different white triangular object reported at Kamloops on 1 May; that white-hull detail must not be transferred to North Bay. The North Bay account provides no occupant or close contact. Its illustration therefore shows the principal civilian observers and three lights without inventing a solid craft, while keeping the airport observer at his separate location in the narrative.
