Case description
Doreen Lang reported a bright light from the master bedroom of her home in the Nipawin district of Saskatchewan on 1 August 1978, at approximately 23:30. Her statement is preserved as a separate section of a police submission that also contains the Rudy family’s nearby but differently dated Codette report. Those observations must not be merged into a shared encounter.
Under a cloudy sky, Lang saw a very bright yellow light travelling from south toward northeast at an apparently great distance. She compared its shape to an orange and its apparent size to half the Moon’s. Nothing else was resolved around it. Only after it reached the northeastern part of the sky did she notice sparks trailing behind. The observation lasted approximately ten to fifteen seconds and was silent.
No other occupant of the house witnessed the event. The police section supplies a land description and records the information without identifying an object, recovered material or physical effects. Its fireball wording describes appearance and does not establish an extraterrestrial vehicle or a specific meteor. The plate selects the late spark-trail phase with Lang alone at the window. Her likeness, house and precise field layout are illustrative; it adds neither the Rudy witnesses nor occupants, windows or hardware inside the distant light.
