Canada reported unidentified aerial event — 1978-10-29 — Goussard, AB

Linda Louise L'Heureux reported an unusual sequence while driving alone north on the main access road into Joussard, Alberta, around 5:10–5:20 a.m. on 29 October 1978. In clear patches and moonlit fog she saw a moving curved wisp of illuminated mist. It seemed to separate, revealing a shape that changed from a quarter moon to a full moon. A red glowing disc with a blue centre then appeared from behind the dull yellow moonlike form. The three elements moved rapidly west and stopped; the red disc appeared to move slowly back into the yellow form, which caught up with the wedge-shaped fog. An exhaustlike trail was reported, and the sequence repeated before the discs disappeared, leaving the mist and trail. The timing fields and duration notation are imperfectly consistent, so they should not be treated as a precise measured chronology. She did not report the episode until after another sighting on 13 December. That separate event, seen from the house and also by husband Guy Arthur L'Heureux, involved a large white star-like or triangular light over Lesser Slave Lake, pulsation, red sparks, changing form and observation through binoculars. The telex explicitly corrects “Goussard” to Joussard and revises the December time range to 5:50–9:00 a.m. Police described Linda as a licensed pilot and responsible observer, while recording no occupants or confirmed vehicle. The plate selects the October driving account; it does not import her husband or the December sequence into it.
