Case description
Two additional observers in the Clinton area reported a northbound light at about 22:27 on 14 August 1977. The RCMP letter places one about seven miles north of Clinton and the other about forty miles north. Each saw it for only seconds and could not estimate its altitude. The document also mentions reports gathered through regional airports.
The original page is explicitly stamped “IDENTIFIED AS A METEOR.” It belongs to the same correspondence as the earlier Cache Creek observation and was sent to a University of British Columbia geologist. Those links explain why this Clinton record and the Cache Creek record should be read together, rather than counted as two fully independent close encounters.
Neither Clinton observer is described as seeing occupants, a landing or a structured vehicle. The evidence supports a reported fireball and the file’s recorded identification; it does not support an alien encounter. The plate uses an anonymous observer at a representative rural location. Its landscape and human appearance are illustrative because the letter does not preserve an exact viewing scene.
