Case description
William Thibeault and his brother reported white lights from Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, in early October 1967. The Canadian Forces Base Shearwater signal was sent on 4 October and records the observation as 032345 Z, supporting 3 October at 23:45 UTC. Later retellings place this on 4 October, so the original signal and retrospective chronology retain a date conflict.
The report describes two dim white lights moving rapidly across the sky, followed by a brighter white light moving more slowly from northeast to southwest. The estimated observation lasted five minutes. The brothers used a surveyor’s telescope. Scattered cloud was reported at twelve thousand feet; the observer thought the lights much higher and estimated fifty to one hundred thousand feet, without any measurement establishing those heights.
Thibeault worked with aircraft for Fairey of Canada and said he frequently watched high-altitude jet traffic. He did not think the lights were aircraft, but the signal provides no independent identification, measured speeds, resolved vehicle structure or occupant description. Unrelated newspaper material in the imported OCR is not part of this observation. The plate shows the two representative brothers, telescope and three white points, distinguishing relative brightness without converting the sequence into a rigid formation or detailed craft.
