Case description
The Jefferson City abstract corresponds to the better documented Tuscumbia-area report investigated by Ted Phillips. Claude Edwards, a 64-year-old farmer in Miller County, said that around 7 a.m. on February 14, 1967, he was walking toward his barn to feed cattle when their attention drew him to a gray-green object in an adjoining field. Phillips's later account describes a mushroomlike body about 18 feet across, supported on a short central shaft, with brilliant changing lights around its lower rim.
Several figures less than a meter tall reportedly moved beneath it. Edwards described them as gray-green, with no visible necks or legs, large widely spaced eyes or goggles, a projection at the nose-and-mouth area, and rapidly moving arms or leverlike appendages. He compared their outline with penguins rather than ordinary people. As he approached across the fences, they moved behind the central support.
Edwards said an unseen pressure stopped him near the object and that stones he threw rebounded or deflected without an impact sound. The object eventually rocked and departed rapidly. Phillips later examined the site and reported ground changes, but the narrative remains witness testimony and the investigator's subsequent observations, not independently demonstrated technology. The plate illustrates the earlier approach, when Edwards, the small figures and the shaft-supported craft could all be represented together. The imported city label is retained as an approximate regional reference.
