Canada reported unidentified aerial event — 1981-04-06 — Myrnam, AB

Ronald Bazylo reported watching an unusual object while travelling in the Derwent–Myrnam area of Alberta on the evening of 6 April 1981. The RCMP telex places him eight miles west of Myrnam under a clear sky with stars visible. A related handwritten statement describes first noticing a curious light near a station approximately fifteen miles west of town, then obtaining a closer apparent view while continuing toward Myrnam. Those successive locations should not be mistaken for separate witnesses. He described a circular grayish-white appearance with a reddish lower section. The telex records estimates of seventy feet in diameter and roughly one to one-and-a-half miles in altitude, without measurements establishing either. Across about half an hour the object seemed to move eight miles north, against the reported north-to-south wind. His handwritten statement also says it appeared stationary for approximately thirty seconds while he stopped his car, then resumed motion as he continued; that changes in viewpoint could affect the impression remained untested. Bazylo was known to the detachment as a district agriculturist. Police obtained his account and made follow-up inquiries; the supplied material contains no identified second observer, recovered object or matched radar track.
