Case description
The original Dawson telegram dates the principal sighting to 17 February 1969 at about 18:05, although this catalogue entry gives 18 February. Mrs George Ford, identified as Shirley Ford, observed a bright round light from behind her home near Sixth Avenue and Harper Street. Other reports came from three children behind a different house and an older adult elsewhere along Sixth Avenue.
The telegram describes a whitish-blue light, compared in brilliance to welding and in apparent size to a streetlamp. It moved east and disappeared behind Dome Hill. Ford’s observation lasted roughly fifteen seconds; the collected accounts ranged from seconds to several minutes. Dome Hill is the landscape feature behind which the light vanished, not evidence that the object itself possessed a dome. Witness opinions that it was unlike a meteor or aurora are recorded opinions, not a demonstrated exclusion.
A continuation includes differing colours, durations and a later apparently stationary light. These variations should not be flattened into one simultaneous close encounter. No page reviewed describes beings or a resolved vehicle. The plate therefore follows Ford’s outdoor observation on the telegram’s date, keeping the catalogue’s one-day discrepancy explicit.
