Case description
A witness recalled returning to the Bourget training base at about 02:30 on a Sunday in 1964 when brief, faint lights drew attention to a site 200–300 metres away. The narrative says early March, while the GEIPAN title gives February. Approaching the military fence, the observer reportedly saw five silhouettes moving between a grounded object and its immediate surroundings.
The intermittent light showed a rounded upper section. When it went out, the object allegedly rose one or two metres and paused for one or two seconds in silence. It was described as round or oval, eight to ten metres across and 2.5–3 metres high, flat underneath with raised central and side portions. It then ascended abruptly toward the south, leaving brief traces in the sky. The witness later thought some grass and shrubs were compressed, but remained about ten metres away behind the fence.
The account did not reach investigators until June 2007. GEIPAN classified it C because the extremely late single-witness recollection lacked dependable corroborating information. No anatomy or clothing was supplied for the silhouettes, and no trace examination establishes the cause of the alleged compression. The reconstruction preserves the unresolved month and limited figure descriptions.
