Case description
A witness recalled travelling through the Verdon region in early July 1965, aged fourteen, with a four-year-old brother in the rear of a car. Somewhere between Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and Manosque, around 19:00 or 19:30, the children reportedly noticed a large object in a lavender field. The witness compared it to an overturned plate and said that figures resembling children were emerging from it.
The surviving email does not provide an exact road, day, viewing distance, number of figures, appearance, duration or departure sequence. It does not establish that the driver observed the scene. The childlike comparison should not be converted into detailed Grey anatomy or a claimed abduction. The plate shows representative small humanlike figures while leaving their features unresolved.
GEIPAN received the brief account on 17 August 2009, more than four decades later, and obtained no additional testimony or requested clarifications. It classified the case C because the missing date and location prevented investigation. July 1 was entered arbitrarily and is not an established event date. The official discussion considers the rising Moon on 11 July as a possible contribution to a misidentification, while explicitly acknowledging that it does not explain the reported figures.
