At about 21:00 in July of an uncertain year between 1970 and 1973, a witness in the Landes reported seeing a white or aluminium-coloured, saucer-shaped object arrive at an estimated altitude of 300–400 metres. He estimated its diameter at six to eight metres. It moved very slowly in a broken path from right to left, with a beam from two powerful lights at the front.
He called family members, who reportedly saw it depart at very high speed, silently, on an upward path of about 45°. A second object then appeared at the same estimated altitude: a white or aluminium-coloured cigar shape about 30 metres long. It arrived without sound. About 30 portholes appeared to reveal soft, subdued interior light. It moved very slowly in a straight line and disappeared behind treetops. Both objects reportedly travelled from north-northwest toward south-southeast.
The witness referred to a press article about lights at Bordeaux airport that evening. His date recollection was imprecise, so the catalogue assigned 1 July 1970. GEIPAN noted the surprising detail in this very old account but considered the information insufficient and the elapsed time too great for investigation.
