(DPT) FINISTERE (29) 24.01.1979

Between 24 and 28 January 1979, 3 witnesses reported different phenomena in the same part of Finistère (29). On 24 January between 07:00 and 07:15, one saw an orange cigar-shaped craft move slowly north to south, then rise vertically and disappear at very high speed while changing color. No naval-aviation military exercises were reported for that period, and no other account was collected. Information on this event is insufficient. On 28 January at about 22:15, 2 other people saw recurring blue and white lights, with a red point described by one witness. The gendarmerie found that these were signal lights atop the masts of a German cargo ship anchored in a bay. These 2 later accounts are classified A; that conclusion does not identify the 24 January event.
