Case description
On 8 May 1980, a twenty-year-old man in Flixecourt reported that strong light suddenly illuminated his bedroom and that he sensed a humanoid presence there. He and his thirty-year-old sister then described a luminous object moving outside the window. GEIPAN’s witness entries record differing appearances: white for the principal witness and a red ovoid form for his sister. The summary also compares the object to a plate.
Gendarmes were called at about 23:30 and found the principal witness deeply affected. They recovered no traces or additional neighbourhood testimony confirming the event. Other people in appropriately facing rooms had not noticed the extensive phenomenon described. The household’s normally reactive guard dogs also had not responded. These negative observations formed part of the inquiry; they do not establish the exact stimulus by themselves.
GEIPAN classified the case B, probably explained by lights from vehicles visible from the bedroom, combined with the witness’s particular sensitivity to supernatural interpretations. The recorded impression of a presence is not a detailed sighting of an alien body. The plate consequently includes the man, his sister and an ambiguous red light without inventing a creature or a mechanically detailed spacecraft.
