The Creuse case title gives 27 January 1989, while the narrative states that on 28 January at about 20:30, the Guéret gendarmerie command asked all its units to look eastward for a particular phenomenon. They saw very bright, strongly scintillating points of various colors, and observations continued on several successive evenings. GEIPAN attributes them to stellar scintillation enhanced by suitable weather conditions.
