On 24 November 1990, several witnesses in Pays de la Loire and Brittany saw about 10 luminous balls moving at high speed. The investigation established that they came from banks of lasers installed by EDF for celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the Cordemais thermal power station in Loire-Atlantique. The lasers were visible from 40 km away.
