Case description
The imported NICAP entry dates a daylight landing near Tuscumbia to March 20, 1967 but supplies no witness or detailed account. The local narrative investigated by Ted Phillips is dated February 14, 1967 in HUMCAT and Phillips’s published reports. Those dates cannot be treated as interchangeable. This record retains that conflict; its reconstruction illustrates the February 14 Claude Edwards account.
Edwards said he was approaching his barn around seven in the morning when his cattle’s fixed attention led him to a gray-green, dome-shaped object in a field. It rested on a central tubular pedestal, with brilliant changing colours in oblong openings around its lower edge. Several small gray-green beings moved rapidly beneath it. He described wide-set dark eyes or goggles, facial projections and quickly moving arm-like appendages; their legs were not visible.
He crossed two fences and reported pressure from an invisible barrier. Two stones he threw allegedly failed to strike the object. The beings disappeared behind the pedestal, after which the object rocked and rose silently, rapidly leaving. Estimates of its width vary between roughly fifteen and eighteen feet. Phillips later described a shallow circular depression and unusually dry soil at the alleged landing spot, which he visited more than three months afterward.
The case rests on Edwards’s testimony and retrospective investigation, without verified photographs of occupants. No independent evidence recovered here establishes whether the March 20 catalogue line denotes this same event or another report.
