Case description
This Louhans case was determined to be a fabrication. A thirty-year-old man claimed that, while jogging on a former railway path on 14 January 1997, he saw a greenish, egg-shaped being with a triangular head. He placed it about seventy metres away and said it vanished as he stood after adjusting a shoelace, leaving a soft reddish fragment that hardened in his pocket.
He presented the resulting object as an extraterrestrial foetus and claimed that an unnamed laboratory acquaintance had found internal bone structures. Investigators received a dark, roughly three-centimetre stone with greenish reflections, partly smooth and partly rough. They photographed the object and path, found no unusual traces in the hardened snow, and sent the material to SEPRA. The police summary does not provide the result of that analysis. His claimed laboratory findings were never substantiated in the accessible file.
Colleagues identified the same stone as something he had already shown them in autumn 1996, before the alleged encounter. When questioned on 6 March 1997, he admitted finding it during summer 1996 and inventing the story. Police forwarded the false-statement file to the prosecutor; the documents do not establish a subsequent court outcome. GEIPAN classifies the case A and explicitly describes a hoax. The plate is therefore neutral report context, showing an illustrative jogger and inert stone, with no living creature, biological remains or invented spacecraft.
