On the night of 23–24 September 1997, 2 independent witnesses saw a very bright ovoid light with a trail pass across the sky. The phenomenon moved very rapidly and disappeared after a few seconds. No sound was detected. GEIPAN considered the characteristics of the observation to favour an atmospheric-entry hypothesis.
