VOREPPE (38) 06.09.1998

On 6 September 1998 at around 20:00, people in their garden in Voreppe saw a circular object above a tree on a neighboring property. Different witnesses described different sizes and colors, but several remarked that it seemed to have legs. Initially stationary above the tree, it later moved slowly through the sky. One witness filmed it for a few minutes before it disappeared entirely. A few days later, prompted by press coverage, a person told the gendarmerie that a helium-filled child's balloon shaped and colored like a ladybird, with long legs, had escaped. It had been poorly secured to his son's wrist and drifted slowly away in the same area at the time the witnesses saw the unusual object. The source identifies the sighting as that balloon.
