Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
On 7 January 2000 at about 19:20, the pilot of an A320 bound for Casablanca saw 2 balloons pass a short distance below his aircraft near Rambouillet, one blue and one white, supporting a load resembling a radar reflector. Following a complaint, Météo-France stated that these were not meteorological radiosonde balloons. Inquiries to the military produced no new information. The source considers the objects' nature as balloons essentially beyond doubt, but their origin could not be determined.
