At 4:40 p.m. on June 6, 2001, the crew of an A300 flying toward Toulouse reported a fast, incandescent light descending through the sky. The crew of another aircraft also observed it. Because a military area was nearby, the archived assessment considered a decoy flare released by a military aircraft the probable explanation.
