SAINT-JEAN-DE-MONTS (85) 12.08.2006

On 4 June 2008, a witness reported a sighting from August 2006, possibly the 12th, during the 'Nuit des étoiles' stargazing event. At about 23:30, from the pier at Saint-Jean-de-Monts, the witness saw 2 faint balls of light moving low above the ocean. After 30 seconds, they became intensely bright and vanished in a fraction of a second. No other account of the phenomenon was obtained. The sighting resembles sky lanterns, but details and information are lacking.
