LAQUEUILLE (63) 24.01.2008

On 24 January 2008 at 01:15, a witness in Laqueuille saw a high-altitude white light trace 2 circles in a clear sky, then disappear. A loud rumbling sound accompanied the observation. GEIPAN considers the description suggestive of an aircraft, although the light's movement was surprising. The witness was beside a military air-training area, shown on the attached map from the RTBA, the defense very-low-altitude route network. GEIPAN notes that a military aircraft maneuvering could behave this way. The case is classified B: a probable military aircraft on an exercise.
