JOUE-LES-TOURS (37) 17.12.2009

On Thursday 17 December 2009 at about 15:37, a witness in Joué-lès-Tours (37) took a burst of photographs of a snowy landscape from a seventh-floor bedroom. Reviewing them on a computer, he noticed a puzzling spot in one image. GEIPAN favors an insect near the photographer and lens. The image has low unusualness; the initially limited information was supplemented by IPACO analysis. Estimated dimensions and speed fit a small fruit-fly-type insect passing rapidly very close to the lens. GEIPAN notes that this is typical of cases it no longer investigates or quickly classifies: no direct sighting, an object noticed only afterward in a photograph, and absent from the next image. It concludes that the photograph shows a small Drosophila-type fly, an appearance also termed a rod in ufology, and classifies the case as A.
