On Friday 3 December 2010 at 19:17, a driver and his female passenger saw a group of white lights with violet tinges gradually disappear. The first-level investigator obtained confirmation from Riedisheim town hall that a humanitarian association had released illuminated balloons that evening. Swiss pyrotechnic sticks of the Blinklanzen type were attached to helium balloons. No photographs were taken, but municipal confirmation and the supplied details left no doubt.
