On 19 March 2012 at 23:45, 3 friends leaving a restaurant in place du Capitole, Toulouse, saw 2 successive light phenomena. First, a bright point crossed the sky in a straight line in under 10 seconds. Another then made several zigzags before disappearing. GEIPAN considers the evidential basis very strong: 3 credible witnesses wrote precise accounts, although these were clearly not independent; see the investigation report. Overall strangeness is fairly low because the phenomena were relatively distant. The first straight path is only slightly unusual, whereas the second erratic one is more so. GEIPAN examined many hypotheses. Some could not be fully ruled out, but none could be confirmed. Birds were the leading possibility, yet insufficiently supported, and an ornithologist could not validate it. Pending evidence supporting one explanation, GEIPAN classifies the case C: lack of corroboration.
