GRASSE (06) 15.09.2012

On 15 September 2012 at about 13:35, a witness noticed an elongated, colored object moving silently from south-southeast to north-northeast across the sky. An amateur photographer, he took 2 photographs. With a moderate wind from the southeast to east, as shown by Meteociel readings for Nice, he observed and photographed a violet-blue flying object of complex shape to the southeast. Its movement was consistent with the wind, and its appearance suggested a silver-colored helium-filled Mylar party balloon. Facing into the wind on his balcony, the witness could not correctly estimate the wind direction. GEIPAN classified the case B as a probable party balloon sighting.
