On September 17, 2012, between 6:50 and 7:20 a.m., a witness noticed two lights and took photographs looking east and south. GEIPAN identified Jupiter in the south, magnitude −2.5, and the still brighter Venus in the east, magnitude −4.7, which became invisible at sunrise. The summary contrasts these with magnitude 1.7 stars in the Great Bear and refers to the corresponding sky charts. The case was classified A: Venus and Jupiter.
