BUGUE (LE) (24) 05.11.2012

On 5 November 2012 around 19:30, 2 witnesses in Le Bugue watched a moving luminous red object with 2 flashing white lights for 1 minute. The description also mentions a hexagonal shape, without clearly specifying whether this refers to the object or its lights. GEIPAN concludes that it was probably a light aircraft. The investigation report cites lights and noise consistent with an aircraft, a path aligned with 2 nearby airfields and compatible with a recent take-off or imminent landing, and a local airfield housing a flying club with light aircraft approved for night flying. The case is classified B: probable light aircraft shortly after taking off from, or before landing at, a nearby airfield.
