GEIPAN received a questionnaire on June 30, 2015, describing a single witness's observation from a terrace on November 10, 2012, at 9:30 p.m. The witness reported a dark triangle with orange-yellow lights at its corners and centre, moving slowly and silently before turning ninety degrees and apparently accelerating due west. The observation lasted less than one minute. Investigators considered the colour, number, calm- or light-wind behaviour, duration and Saturday-night timing consistent with multiple sky lanterns. Extinguishing lights could create an impression of rapid acceleration and disappearance; horizontal wind shear could account for the turn. GEIPAN classified the case B: probable sky lanterns.
