At 00:03 on the night of Saturday to Sunday, 2 December 2012, a couple at home observed about 10 red luminous objects following one another at regular intervals and disappearing one after another into the cloudy sky. The witness's description matched sky lanterns, although bluish reflections were reported; these are rare on lanterns unless the lanterns themselves are blue. Local wind readings from Verneuil showed a light, variable wind from the western sector, consistent with the objects' movement. They may have been released beside the Seine at the end of a celebration. The case was classified B as a probable observation of sky lanterns.
