NEULLIAC (56) 02.01.2013

On 2 January 2013 between 21:10 and 21:30 in the Neulliac (56) case, a motorist saw several puzzling orange balls in the sky. GEIPAN finds slow orange balls moving over a few minutes typical of sky lanterns. The holiday season favours releases. Vannes recorded a light westerly wind; GEIPAN considers inland wind probably weaker and more southerly, citing southerly wind at Rennes. This would fit the observed south-to-north motion towards Neulliac; see the map. The case is classified B: probable sky lanterns.
