Case description
On Sunday 17 February 2013 at about 19:00, 2 witnesses in one vehicle saw aligned red lights apparently stationary in the sky.
GEIPAN considers the low red lights on a weekend evening consistent with sky lanterns. The light easterly wind recorded by Météociel could have carried lanterns released in Curgies after a celebration. Their slow recession would have been hard to perceive, explaining apparent stillness.
The case is classified B: probable sky lanterns.
